On this site we aim to provide you with as much information as possible about Laser Eye Surgery often refered to as LASIK. Apart from a few articles on the site, we are also able to provide you the latest news from around the web on this topic as well as links to a multitude of other sites that provide information.

Please note though, that this site, and others like it, should at no time be taken as the only source of advice. We aim to merely provide you with some facts so that when you meet with your opthapmologist you will have a better idea of what he is talking about and armed with some facts you will be able to ask some relevant and important questions and then decide wether LASIK is for you.

LASIK or Lasik (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

LASIK is performed by ophthalmologists using a laser. LASIK is similar to other surgical corrective procedures such as photorefractive keratectomy, PRK, (also called ASA, Advanced Surface Ablation) though it provides benefits such as faster patient recovery. Both LASIK and PRK represent advances over radial keratotomy in the surgical treatment of vision problems, and are thus viable alternatives to wearing corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses for many patients.

“Before undergoing a refractive procedure, you should carefully weigh the risks and benefits based on your own personal value system, and try to avoid being influenced by friends that have had the procedure or doctors encouraging you to do so.”
